Cooking with Tagge’s CSA Produce Box
This summer, I’m excited to be partnering with Tagge’s Farm to experience their 15-week CSA produce box, and to share how I’m cooking, eating, or preserving their farm-fresh seasonal produce all summer long.
You can visit my ‘CSA Cooking Journal’ to learn more about Tagge’s CSA, see what comes in the box each week, and find weekly recipes and updates on how we use the produce.

Featured Seasonal Ingredient: Watermelon
Every recipe here at Together We Bloom is based around a ‘featured’ seasonal ingredient.
Melons are my favorite fruit and watermelon season can never come soon enough. Watermelon disappears quickly in our house, so sometimes it seems silly to even consider sourcing recipes that use watermelon. But this is one that I make several times each summer so I figured I would share it!
We have made this recipe 2 times with watermelons from the CSA box. One with a yellow watermelon and one with a red watermelon.

When is watermelon in season in Utah?
Locally grown watermelon generally starts coming on in July and continues up through September, but is most abundant in August.
For this reason, this recipe is tagged as both a summer & fall seasonal recipe. Here you can explore all of the summer seasonal recipes & fall seasonal recipes.
Other Local, Seasonal Ingredients Used in This Recipe / Meal
- Basil– Sourced from my home herb garden (check out how huge the leaves are on this lettuce leaf basil.)
- Mint– Sourced from my home herb garden

About This Recipe
I don’t even know how long we have been making this dish, but I am addicted to it, so I make it a few times every summer. Even right now as I write this, I am craving it.
It tastes so much better than it even sounds. Like it has no right to be this good.
The dry, salty feta combined with the juicy and sweet watermelon is the perfect harmony.
Adjusting the recipe to your palate and what’s in season
The recipes that I share here are meant to be a starting point or an inspiration for you in your own kitchen.
I enjoy creatively exploring seasonal ingredients and finding new ways to use what’s abundant, rather than trying to create one final “perfect” recipe.
I have made this recipe with mint or basil or a combination of both.
At this point, I am always measuring this recipe with my heart, so feel free to adjust the ratios to your liking.
Feel free to use what you have in your garden, pantry, or fridge. Seasonal cooking is flexible, and experimenting is part of the fun!

Serving Suggestions
I eat this for breakfast, lunch, a midnight snack, or as a side at dinner. When I know it is in the fridge, I am excited to get out of bed in the morning so I can eat it for breakfast (lol)
For this specific dinner, pictured above with the yellow watermelon, I served it with store-bought fried chicken and corn on the cob for dinner.
The Recipe:
